$15,000 theft from Clovis Costco, suspect found in Nevada
CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 26-year-old who has been on the run after allegedly smashing a glass display and stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry at the Costco in Clovis has been arrested in Nevada, the Clovis Police Department announced Tuesday.
Clovis Police say earlier this month 26-year-old Donelle Smith walked into the Clovis Costco and had smashed a display case and stole about $15,000 in jewelry before leaving in a car.
According to police, Smith was already wanted for violation of his post-release community supervision since February 2024 and for allegedly leaving the area after burglarizing the Costco.
Police say that detectives identified Smith as the suspect and their investigation led them to Southern California near the state line of Nevada.
According to police, with help from multiple departments, Smith was taken into custody following a pursuit.
Smith was brought back to California on Sept. 20, police say, and he was booked into the Fresno County Jail for suspicion of multiple charges.
