2025 Cupra Raval: Racy city EV spied

Volkswagen’s Spanish offshoot Cupra is preparing to launch a new electric vehicle (EV), with its Raval hatchback spotted testing in Europe.

Set to be the production version of the UrbanRebel concept, the Cupra Raval is expected to be the smallest model in the brand’s lineup, sitting below the existing Born EV.

Due to enter production next year ahead of a local launch in 2026, the circa-4.0m long Raval is based on the Volkswagen Group’s new ‘MEB Entry’ EV platform.

This platform will also be shared with the namesake Volkswagen brand as well as Skoda.

The camouflage on this prototype does its job by hiding many of the design elements, though it appears the three-triangle light signature from the UrbanRebel will carry across, as will the air intakes on each side of the front bumper.

Other design features from the concept that appear on this prototype include full-width LED tail lights, a rear diffuser and an angular tailgate design.

The Raval’s charging port sits behind the front wheels on the top of the wheel arch, not impeding on the visible crease which runs all the way to the C-pillar.

When the Cupra Raval goes on sale in Europe, it’s expected to be priced around €25,000 ($40,900).

At launch, it’ll be powered by a single front-mounted electric motor, reportedly producing 169kW to give the Raval a 0-100km/h time of less than seven seconds.

Cupra is targeting 440km of driving range, shy of the Born’s 511km figure.
