2K Reveals Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz is First ‘Off-Court Ambassador’

In a new official blog post, 2K officially announced that Fall Out Boy member Pete Wentz will represent TopSpin 2K25 as the “the franchise’s first-ever Off-Court Ambassador”.

This implies that there will be further Off-Court Ambassadors, which could also potentially extend to other games in the franchise. But that is only speculation for now.

2K explains that an Off-Court Ambassador role “includes contributions to the game’s soundtrack and appearances on behalf of the game as a tennis aficionado and cultural figure”.

Pete Wentz is a bassist and lyricist for Fall Out Boy. 2K recently introduced a Dillon Francis remix of “Heartbreak Feels so Good” in the TopSpin 2K25 announcement trailer.

TopSpin 2K25 will launch on April 26th, and pre-orders opened up earlier this week for a Standard Edition and Grand Slam Edition. It will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Today’s post from 2K elaborates on Wentz’s responsibilities. It explains that he will “lend his tennis cultural expertise to TopSpin 2K25”, and help shape “the selection of songs on the in-game soundtrack”.

Music plays a large role in both sports and video games in the genre. They need to capture the right attitude and mindset for sports.

Introducing an Off-Court Ambassador could potentially connect with genuine fan culture a bit more. Although, soundtracks do risk becoming more of an individual’s playlist.

2K adds that Wentz “has participated in pro-am events alongside top-ranked tennis pros”. Wentz stated that “having three of my favorite things come together in an organic way is really special”.

2K first announced TopSpin 2K25 in January, marking over a decade-long gap between games in the series. The most recent title, TopSpin 4, released in 2011.

The publisher also released WWE 2K24 earlier this month to strong reviews, though there were hiccups involving Brock Lesnar.
