3 new live action Lego movies are in the works

Patty Jenkins, Jake Kasdan, and Joe Cornish are involved in three different upcoming Lego flicks. Every single Lego movie that was released in theaters were animated, so seeing a live action rendition of the popular toy brand might be an unnecessary move.

IGN reported that Universal Pictures will be developing three Lego films, all of which are live action. Not only that, but directors such as Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman), Jake Kasdan (Jumanji films), and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) are all helming their own movie based on the three lineups. All three directors have been known to have their own critically acclaimed films so maybe there’s some value to these upcoming live action Lego movies.

Not much is known about the plot, but it’s reported that writers have been revealed for each film. Jenkins’ film is using a script she wrote together with former DC Entertainment President Geoff Jones. Kasdan will feature Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul’s script that originated from Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows’ own idea. Moreover, Cornish is rewriting a draft originally written by Heather Anne Campbell (Rick and Morty) based on a treatment by Simon Rich.

A new Lego-themed film in the hands of animation studios would be a more attractive idea, but who knows? Hopefully, they could pull it off in the same vein as the One Piece live action series did.
