3 Signs to Watch Out for to Find Pawns Who Are Infected With Dragonsplague and How to Cure It

It’s been just a few days since Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 hit the shelves, and there’s a deadly infection plaguing the game.  Players take on the role of a powerful individual known as the Arisen in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The player has a specific destiny that involves warning the trust loyalty and obedience of a group of individuals in the game known as Pawns.

Recently, the pawns have been reportedly being infected by an actual in-game disease known as Dragonsplague. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is anyway filled with enough dangers. Adding to them is the latest Dragonsplague in Dragon’s Dogma 2. So if you spot your pawn behaving weirdly, here are some things you need to know about the disease.

It only affects Pawns

The infection of Dragonsplague affects only Pawns in Dragon Dogma 2. It makes the infected pawns violent, aggressive, and dismissive of their master’s orders. The plague is usually contracted by hiring an already infected pawn. Besides, it can also be contracted through combat interactions with drakes and dragons, where it is capable of spreading between party members.

If left unaddressed, the infected who have contracted full-blown Dragonsplague can transform into a shadowy dragon and lay waste to entire towns full of people. Dragonsplague can cause the deaths of scores of Vernworth residents.

It is incurable

Unfortunately, Dragonsplague is incurable in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Consuming traditional flasks or curative items cannot cure the disease.

The main pawns need to be killed, while the support pawns hired by the player can be quickly dismissed. This is the only effective way of preventing them from spreading the disease. However, it cannot be actually cured.

Red Eyes

One of the most visible signs of a pawn being infected is the red eyes of the pawns. The pawn who is infected will have eerie red eyes, normally different from what is seen during character creation. Besides, the game also gives a notification that the pawn is infected.

If the players spot a pawn with red eyes while inside the Rift, and they do not see a notification or warning, then the red eyes may be typically from character creation.

How to cure Dragonsplague?

Although Dragonsplague is majorly incurable, there are three ways to prevent the condition or at least contain it’s spread:

  • Dismissal – Players can dismiss the infected pawn that they have just recruited if they are quick enough. Players must however hope that the pawn has not infected anyone else in their squad.

  • Infecting others – The way a pawn can cure itself is by infecting another pawn. This means, that if a player hires someone with Dragonsplague and the pawn passes the disease to a support pawn, the hired pawn will be cured. Thus players must first get rid of the newly infected support pawn.
  • Death (forfeit) – The pawn has to be killed forfeited to get rid of the disease. If the main pawn is infected, players are advised to just throw them into deep water or allow a monster to kill them.
