6 Million Copies Isn’t Enough as Green Hell Goes for the Full Set and Announce PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Release, But It’s Bad News for Last-gen Owners

Creepy Jar’s popular survival video game, Green Hell, is finally coming to the ninth generation of consoles, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 but there is some bad news for the owners of the last generation of consoles.

Green Hell was initially released for Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and it has successfully crossed 6 million players but Creepy Jar has now revealed that the last-gen consoles will no longer receive updates as these consoles will not be able to run new updates at the quality that Creepy Jar wants to deliver to its player base.

Green Hell Is Coming To The New Generation Of Consoles

Creepy Jar has confirmed that their critically acclaimed survival game, Green Hell, is coming to the current generation of consoles, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on 14th August. Watch the official Green Hell current-gen reveal here.

Along with 20 hours of additional gameplay, the new version will also include these updates: Spirits of Amazonia, Animal Husbandry, Building Update, Storage & Transportation, Fortifications, and Flamekeeper.

There Is Some Bad News For Green Hell Players On PS4 And Xbox One

While the announcement is exciting, there is some bad news for PS4 and Xbox One owners. Players who own the game on these consoles will no longer receive any future updates due to hardware limitations.

Fortunately, there’s some good news too. Creepy Jar has confirmed that PS4 and Xbox One players can upgrade to the current-gen version for free if they have previously purchased the game. There will be no crossplay between the two generations of consoles and no save transfers from the last-gen to the current-gen.

Green Hell has been one of the most popular survival video games but unfortunately, it will lose most of its fanbase on PS4 and Xbox One because of this. The game features a single-player mode as well as co-op multiplayer as players try to survive in the massive Amazon rainforest.

Various studios in the past had to make similar decisions to make sure they released smooth updates for their fans. Earlier this year, Rockstar Games removed the Rockstar Editor from GTA 5‘s PS4 and Xbox One versions, and players believe that they will also stop rolling out GTA Online updates for these consoles soon, an inevitable end.

Green Hell will be released on 14th August for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 at the price of $24.99 but for the first 14 days, players will be able to grab the game at a 20% discount.
