7 Days to Die 1.0’s Insane Crafting Times are Proving to be a Big Bug Bear

7 Days to Die has its many quirks, but the sheer amount of time it takes to craft something might be one of the more egregious ones. After its 1.0 release, a lot of people have gone back to the game to give it another try.

There are many venturing into it for the first time. While there is a lot of fun to be had, the crafting portion of the game seems to be completely void of it, and players are beginning to take notice.

7 Days to Die’s Crafting System Is a Waiting Game

One Redditor has brought to everyone’s attention the insane crafting times that some items have in 7 Days to Die, and it’s hard to justify why it’s like that.

Half an hour?!

OP’s screenshots show how a Compound Bow takes just around one minute to craft, while the Compound Crossbow takes a whole 30 minutes of waiting.

You can’t use the crafting workbench while it’s being made either. If you’re planning to make a bunch of items that take a while, either be ready to wait or have multiple crafting workbenches ready.

On the bright side, that means you don’t have to stand around at your workbench all day either, unlike some games. Players can’t be thankful enough for that.

Palworld players know the struggle. Although you could always get your Pals to (willingly) do the crafting for you, so it’s not too big of an issue.

Is This Intentional, or Is It a Bug?

One player brings up that crossbows are a lot more time-consuming and complicated to make in real life compared to compound bows. That could be the reason why the developers made the disparity between the two crafting times so wide.

While it’s true about how it works in real life, the player isn’t completely accurate in their guess. Another reply brings up how the cars in 7 Days to Die take less than 10 minutes to make.

Surely crossbows in real life are much faster and easier to make than a car. It’s more likely that the developers made a mistake, and one player confirms the same after checking the game’s code.

While this issue isn’t inherently that serious, it does make you think about how many people have been saying that the game doesn’t feel that “polished.” All of these little quirks pile up and chip away at the player experience until one day, someone decides to put the game down and never pick it up again.

If you’ve played 7 Days to Die, we’d love to hear your thoughts about it. Do you think the game is fine, or could it use more polishing? Let us know in the comments below!
