7 Days To Die – How To Get Mechanical Parts

7 Days To Die’s zombie apocalypse can be a tough environment, so you’ll want to get started right away crafting the best items for your survival. One of the most crucial components for crafting are mechanical parts. Here we guide you through all the ways you can get these valuable parts.

What are mechanical parts?

Mechanical Parts are used for crafting high-end items for survival, such as vehicles, guns, and tools. This is a resource you can never have too much of, so you’ll likely want to stock up on mechanical parts as soon as you start finding them.

How to find mechanical parts

These parts can be found at random when looting various items, such as cars, appliances, and dumpsters. You can even find these pretty early into the start of your game.

You’ll need lots of these mechanical parts for crafting, though, so you want to make looting them more abundant. For this, you’ll need to eventually obtain a wrench, which is a tool used for disassembling items in the game.

With enough luck, wrenches can be looted from random appliances, found in air supply drops, or from searching the Stiff Tools storage boxes at the hardware stores. They can also be crafted once you’ve made a workbench and read one Scrapping 4 Fun magazine. You’ll need forged iron, mechanical parts, and duct tape to craft the wrench.

Once you have a wrench, you can use it to disassemble items in the game for crafting materials. Cars are one of the best resources for mechanical parts, but you can dismantle many items in the game to get them. This includes household appliances, air conditioner units, vending machines, street lights, and even shopping carts.

You can invest points in the Salvage Operations skill perk, which will help you salvage faster and get more materials for your efforts, but I wouldn’t recommend dumping points into this skill early in the game. There are much more crucial skills needed for your survival, so I would only put one or two points in if you’re already well-set with your essentials and your focus now shifted to extra crafting.

This guide should help you find plenty of mechanical parts for all your crafting needs. If you’re looking for a set of wheels for more convenient travel on your adventures, here’s how you can get wheels and parts for crafting vehicles.
