The big question for Fortnite players now is: do you prefer Season OG or Reload? Reload was added to the game in late June; essentially, it is a 40-player game mode that allows team members to reboot as long as one member is still alive.

Fortnite OG last year saw a return to classic seasons, but with a few twists. But now fans have been discussing which mode they prefer, and a clear winner seems to have been found.

Last year, Season OG was a cool return to the classic formula for fans new and old to dive into. Each week, the map would change as it cycled through five seasons worth of classic content, along with a battle pass specific to the event.

Fortnite Reload is a smaller and faster-paced game mode; 40 players are dropped onto the island instead of the usual 100+, and teams can bring members back if there is a teammate still standing. Reboots stop completely towards the end, and the players duke it out for the victory royale.

In a thread in the r/FortNiteBR forum on Reddit, gamingjourno posed the question, “Fortnite Reload or Season OG, which do you prefer?” Fans were quick to share their opinions and debate the pros and cons of each game mode. But it is very apparent that while Reload has its support, most fans can agree that Season OG is where it is at.

Most gamers tend to enjoy a look into the past, which makes sense for players to enjoy a game mode that brings them back to the start of Fortnite’s history that took place so many years ago, whereas Reload seems to be just a re-skinned version of Warzone’s Resurgence mechanic.

Season OG is The Clear Fan Favorite

The consensus seems to be that Season OG was a more fun and less sweaty game mode, with many sharing that opinion; one said, “It’s hard enough to kill a really good player now you have to do it multiple times.” Many also lament that solos are missing from Reload, so you are forced to play with others instead of being able to take on the game alone.

It was also pointed out that solos would not work in Reload since you need a team to, well, reload. However, the comparison to the Call of Duty Warzone Resurgence game mode was made in that players must survive a countdown that gives them an extra life. Many said they would be more likely to try Reload if there was a solo mode attached.

While Fortnite Reload seems like a very exciting mode, and it is always good to see the game branch out and try new things, such as the LEGO and Rocket League racing game modes, it is clear that players want more of the old-school formula. Fortnite should always be innovating, but if the comments on this reddit thread are anything to go by, Epic Games needs to be careful not to leave their fans behind while chasing industry trends.
