Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in 2024 with a custom NVIDIA chip, according to reports

Nintendo Switch 2 according to Reuters sources will be released in 2024 and feature a custom NVIDIA chip.

The rumours have been circulating for a while now about the next console from Nintendo. The latest rumours on the Nintendo Switch 2 speak of an announcement sometime in March 2024, while the upcoming February Nintendo Direct will be dedicated to third-party games and we will likely not see anything about the Switch 2 during that direct, however, it would be awesome to get some news about it before March.

“The current Nintendo Switch handheld console already includes NVIDIA’s Tegra X1 chip,” reads the Reuters article, which talks about the GPU manufacturer’s supplies. “A new version of the Switch console , expected this year, will likely include a custom chip from NVIDIA, according to a source.”

Will the Nintendo Switch 2 Be More Powerful?

Based on the rumours that have emerged in recent months, the feeling is that the Switch 2, or whatever the name of the next console will be, will likely follow the formula of the current model by only retouching its components to adapt it to current standards, according to some reports from industry analysts noted that the Switch 2 will have an 8-inch LCD, compare this to the regular 6.2-inch LCD screen, which is a significant size increase.

As we know Nintendo doesn’t like to change a winning formula for something that may not be satisfactory. Why a new console? Well, the Switch has become the best-selling console of all time in its seven-year lifespan, with a total of 139.36 million units sold as of the end of 2023.

In the meantime, while we wait, take a look at the Nintendo concert below 🙂
