God of War’s Next Saga Needs to Avoid 1 Trope the Greek and Norse Stories Followed

God of War is a wonderful gaming franchise that highlights the importance of growth and change for the better. The developers exclusively worked on the series for the past few years and gave the gaming community one of the best story arcs and character developments.

The fans grew up with the franchise and learned valuable lessons about not letting the past define the future. The narrative of the Norse Saga came close to home for some players and inspired them to follow the example of the Ghost of Sparta as he is doing the work to become a better god.

Fans Are Sharing Ideas of How the God of War Will Leave the Norse Lands

Santa Monica Studio struck gold with the franchise and the gaming community continued to support each project, especially with the exciting direction the studio took with the Norse Saga. In the original trilogy, the God of War is viewed as a monster and is feared rather than respected. The Ghost of Sparta slaughtered everything that stood in his way and once there was nothing left to kill, he set out and ended up in the Norse lands.

Kratos underwent a great character arc during his time on Midgard and was given a second chance to be a father to Atreus. His newfound friends and family have given him a new purpose. The Valhalla DLC became a therapy session for the retired god to accept his godhood and be of service once more but some fans believe he can do more good beyond the Norse Saga.

It is not easy to escape from one’s past and Kratos decided to face it head-on and forgive himself to become a better god for those around him. Freya and Sigrun offer him the opportunity to succeed Tyr but he is hesitant over the fear of returning to his old ways.

The developers could deliver one of the most character redemptions if they start the next major saga with Kratos answering the call for those in distress in neighboring lands. The original trilogy ended with the death of the Greek Gods out of vengeance and the Norse Saga ended the reign of the abusive Aesir Gods and ushered in a new era of peace.

Being the God of War Is an Opportunity to Become a Hero

Faye taught the retired god to open his heart and feel the suffering of others. Being a god allows these characters to do something about other people’s problems and other cultures could require assistance.

The Ghost of Sparta did many unforgivable acts of violence and he feels unworthy of redemption but the sequels could feature Kratos traveling to different lands like Japan. Visiting different lands will allow him to carry on Faye’s teachings and his road to atonement.

He started as a killer and became a savior, this could be the greatest story arc ever written. Perhaps the developers have no plans to retire the character just yet.

Kratos started as a killer and his journey encouraged him to do better for those around him. He has now set the standard for how gods should act and use their powers for the betterment of all.
