Helldivers 2 Cheaters Make Gaming Experience a Living Nightmare for Gamers
Helldivers 2 players are no doubt having fun defeating all sorts of automatons, and its combat is nothing to scoff about either. It’s a fun game with responsive third-person shooter mechanics. The best part is that developer Arrowhead Game Studios has continuously worked to accommodate more players on their servers as the player count keeps on rising very rapidly.
But it looks like, along with that player count, the count of cheaters is also rising. It’s not been very long since its launch, and the game has already been compromised. Cheaters have been spotted running a number of cheats while playing this game. And fans cannot wait any longer for developers to do something about it.
Cheaters in Helldivers 2 are testing the patience of gamers
An online game, no matter how large it is, would always have some small issues that would need fixing. The other thing that every online game is destined to have is cheaters. They can be a huge annoyance to the people playing that game too. Imagine playing a game with all the skills you have and then seeing someone just doing whatever they want just because they are using some cheats.
This is exactly how players in Helldivers 2 are dealing right now. Players play this game in squads, which are basically teams of players doing a mission together. Often, squad mates would notice they were receiving a huge amount of samples without doing anything. For those unfamiliar, samples are the in-game currency in Helldivers 2 and are not easy to get.
Now those squadmates would realize that they only got those samples because someone on their team was cheating. The game has introduced more than one type of sample to the players. These are divided into three categories: common samples, rare samples, and super rare samples. These can be used by players to purchase modules, which can in turn be used to upgrade the equipment.
In games such as this, half the fun is finding these samples. Players can play, defeat enemies, and then be rewarded with some of the samples that they desperately need to upgrade their equipment. Just getting them for free in these random bursts is not useful, and it’s not fun either. The challenge of the game literally flies off the rails.
No doubt, it’s an annoying experience for fans of the game. And they have taken this issue online; they can be seen complaining all over the internet. A Redditor named ForeverDesperate5855 made their disappointment known by mentioning how a cheater ruined their experience of grinding.
They were noted as saying, “I joined a random Chinese team that was just about to extract using quickplay and I noticed something off. First off, their levels were unusually high, but that’s fine. What got me was when they picked up 700+ rare and common samples, and the match results showed 6k for both.”
Now, this does not mean it is limited to just one group of players; if one person is doing it, then many others are doing it too. And where’s the fun in cheating? Hence, fans await a resolution and are asking the developers if they have a solution to this widespread problem yet.
The developers might just be working on the solution too
Recently, the CEO of developer Arrowhead Game Studio, Johan Pilestedt, addressed the criticism regarding the lack of DLSS and FSR in Helldivers 2 by saying, “DLSS – cool tech, but not necessary. If I have code time over I prefer to put that to good use focusing on the core gameplay as it’s what is most important for a game to be successful.” But fans can hope that at least securing the servers from cheaters does not qualify as cool tech.
One thing is for sure, though: cool tech or not, if a game is suffering from cheaters, then the developers are required to make sure this issue is fixed. Or the gameplay part of the game is suffering too. The part that Johan Pilestedt suggests reigns supreme.
