Marvel Rivals SDCC Panel Showcases Marvel Games New Redesign, Opening the Door for a Connected Gaming Universe

Marvel Rivals could only be the start of a new era of video games based on the beloved characters of the Marvel brand. The developers unveiled a revamped logo during San Diego Comic-Con and it has given the gaming community a breath of fresh air that a new age is dawning for superhero games.

There have been a handful of superhero games made in recent years. Some were forgettable and most are universally praised for bringing the superhero experience in a much more interactive and immersive way compared to the live-action adaptation counterparts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Rivals Is the Maiden Voyage of the Revamped Marvel Gaming Division

NetEase Games has worked on several online multiplayer games and has the experience to deliver a great superhero experience. The developers recently unveiled the first look of Doctor Doom in Marvel Rivals at San Diego Comic-Con which blew the collective minds of the gaming community and hardcore comic book readers.

The developers shared plenty of new information and details regarding the game and have given the fans a glimpse of the new opening scroll of Marvel Games with a similar design as other adjacent departments like Marvel Animation and the live-action films set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans are excited to enter this new era of superhero video games.

Perhaps this is a sign that the brand will have a solid foundation and a more unified front. There is a slim chance of the company building a new shared universe which can be tricky given the circumstances of the different developers handling certain projects. Marvel’s Wolverine is going well with Insomniac Games at the helm and the developers already confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man operates within the same universe.

The Marvel brand may have hit some low points with the recent films part of the Multiverse Saga but is bouncing back with the success of Deadpool and Wolverine. Individual projects like the Spider-Man games could be part of a grander plan to extend the shared universe with games outside PlayStation Studios.

Several games are in development and the gaming community is excited to see Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra from Skydance Interactive, Marvel’s Blade from Arkane Studios, a solo Black Panther project from Cliffhanger Games, and Marvel’s Iron Man from EA. These projects could feature the new Marvel Games logo and establish a new age of quality gaming.

The vision of a connected universe in video games is one step closer to a reality. These upcoming games will be a massive leap in the right direction for iconic heroes and villains to be recognized and given the adaptation they deserve.

The Marvel logo will not protect mediocre projects like Marvel’s Avengers from failing, and those days could finally be over. This new logo of Marvel Games could be the company’s way of following the footsteps of Marvel Studios and how they manage multiple projects.

The gaming community is comprised of different people with different preferences. Some players are interested in strong single-player games and some are into competitive multiplayer, so it would be best to appeal to both sides.
