Dog found inside plastic tote near dumpster during extreme heat wave in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas nonprofit found a dog inside a plastic tote that was taped shut in 110-degree heat Thursday night. Now she needs the community’s help for a chance to survive.

According to a post on the Paws Patrol LV Facebook page, the dog, named Reba by the Vegas Pet Rescue Project, was in critical condition and suffering from heat stroke. The dog had a seizure and vomited as the nonprofit took her to Veterinary Emergency Group in Henderson.

Paws Patrol said her veins were dilated in her limbs and medical personnel were initially unable to draw her blood because it was so thick.

The Vegas Pet Rescue Project said in a post that her organs were shutting down, but plasma infusions had started and she was still fighting.

The Pet Rescue Project wrote in a post Friday morning that police started an investigation into the incident.

Her veterinary bills are estimated to go over $8,000, the nonprofits said. Those who wish to donate to Reba’s bills can do so on the Pet Rescue Project Facebook page or on its website.
