The First Descendant is at Risk of Mass Players Abandoning It if Nexon Don’t Change Its Stance on 1 ‘Feature’

The First Descendant is the latest third-person looter shooter which takes pages from Destiny 2 and Warframe playbooks and builds upon them with its own unique systems. It has quickly garnered a strong fan base, but the same community is now turning against Nexon, the game’s developer, as they feel one feature is full of flaws.

Players are unhappy with the mod capacity system as many feel it is too restrictive and limits build variety. If Nexon doesn’t do something about it, they risk a mass exodus of players dissatisfied with their stance on the particular feature.

The First Descendant Mods Capacity System Explained

In Nexon’s third-person looter shooter, Modules are items that are used to improve Descendants. These can improve stats such as damage and give new damage types to characters. Modules allow for a variety of playstyles for each Descendant.

However, the mod capacity system has players vocal for change. Each Module comes with a capacity cost and Descendants and weapons have a limit on the total capacity they can equip.

This system restricts the use of the most powerful Modules simultaneously.

To increase mod capacity, players can level up their Master Rank, use Research Requests, equip a Sub Module, and match Modules with their corresponding slots.

Matching a Module to the correct slot type reduces its capacity cost, while mismatched slots increase the cost.

Because of this, players feel there is not much build variety in the game as you can combine only a few mods and maximize the potential of any character.

Mods capacity limits have players rather dissatisfied with the game and one fan in particular has taken to Reddit to share his findings and many have joined to say the same thing.

One fan mentioned that the current system locks players into specific builds due to the high cost and effort required to change mods, making it difficult to experiment with different loadouts.

Another player had a suggestion for Nexon on how they can fix the problem by saying that the cost of catalysts should be reduced which will then give players the freedom to experiment with different builds.

Furthermore, one fan said that the time needed and resources to fully build the character is absurd as they will need to start over if they want a different build.

Players are united in saying that Nexon needs to address this issue immediately and that they should make the mods system more player-friendly as the game will face a mass exodus if nothing is done about it.

The First Descendant has undoubtedly taken the genre by storm and as Nexon provides continuous updates and improvements, the game will certainly become even better, ensuring long-term player engagement.
