Geelong star Tyson Stengle taken to hospital after nightclub incident

EXCLUSIVE

AFL star forward Tyson Stengle was rushed to hospital via ambulance in the early hours of Sunday morning after an incident at a Geelong nightclub.

7NEWS understands the 25-year-old was unresponsive and carried out of Bloom Venue by concerned friends at about 2.30am.

Stengle was taken to University Geelong Hospital in a “serious condition” where he remained for several hours.

Ambulance Victoria confirmed an incident when contacted by 7NEWS on Monday afternoon.

“Paramedics responded to reports of an incident in Geelong at around 2am on 28 July 2024,” the statement said.

Just hours earlier, Stengle booted three goals and played a starring role in Geelong’s win over North Melbourne in Hobart.

Stengle and Cats teammates flew back to Victoria early on Saturday evening before he returned to Geelong.

It’s understood he is recovering well and was seen running light laps on Monday morning at Cats training.

It is unclear if he will be up for selection for Geelong’s clash with Adelaide at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.

Stengle recently turned his back on a lucrative offer from St Kilda to ink a five-year extension with Geelong, tying him to the club until at least the end of 2029.

His three goals against the Kangaroos takes his tally to 37 for the season – the most of any small forward in the competition.

It puts him in the box seat to again become an All-Australian after claiming his maiden blazer in the Cats’ premiership year of 2022.
