God of War Ragnarok was Kratos Going Easy on Odin, Thor and Heimdall, with a Real Rampage ‘Being worse than GoW3’

God of War is a cautionary tale of what power and greed can wrought, especially in the wrong hands of omnipotent beings. Kratos realized the value of power in his early days and many have died at his hands in his quest for vengeance towards those who wronged him and molded him to be a monster.

The retired god left a trail of blood and death in his homeland after killing the Gods of Olympus. After witnessing what his rage can do to his homeland and being the sole survivor, Kratos stumbled on a foreign land with other powerful gods.

Kratos Could Have Ended the Norse Pantheon if He Wanted to in God of War

Santa Monica Studio spent the last few years working on the franchise and transitioned from one culture to another. The move was risky and the developers incorporated a new one-shot camera technique in God of War that elevated the immersion and storytelling experience that later inspired other gaming studios like Game Science.

The gaming community anticipated the showdown between Kratos and the Asgardian Gods and the developers did not disappoint with Ragnarok. However, the recent entries have taken a step down from the large-scale battles and spectacle the original trilogy was known for which is a testament to Kratos’ growth as a character and his discipline.

I honestly think, If Kratos went on a murdering rampage in the Norse saga, it would have been a lot worse then Gow 3.

Fans have pointed out that if Heimdall were to get over his cockiness and overconfidence, the Watcher of the Aesir could have been an even match for the retired god. Several of Odin’s kin have died by the father-son duo and the kills are far more tamed and less gruesome than the fates of the Greek Gods.

The Ghost of Sparta had a redemption arc throughout the recent entries that culminated in God of War Ragnarok not wanting to revert to his old ways of slaying gods. Unfortunately, the Aesir Gods were a threat to the Nine Realms and his family. Kratos tried his best to avoid conflict and violence and nearly succeeded with Thor until his untimely demise.

Some fans have seemingly forgotten how Kratos earned his title and reputation from the God of War OG trilogy. Regardless of how hard he tried, his past will forever be a part of him and will continue to haunt him for the rest of his days.

Despite his commitment to move on and be a better example for his son, Kratos is aware that his old ways will find a way to get back at him and it did when it came down to face Heimdall. The Aesir God taunted him as a god-killer similarly to how Freya goaded him as a monster for slaying Baldur.

Had Faye and Kratos not crossed paths and shared their love for one another, there is no telling how fast the Norse Saga would have ended if Kratos marched to Asgard and slaughtered the Pantheon without remorse. Odin tried his best to avoid any conflict with him and ultimately failed.

Kratos had a painful upbringing in the early years of his godhood. Time allowed him to heal and become better. Do you think Odin would stand a chance against the old God of War? Let us know in the comments section below!
