Capcom sales drop a staggering 44 percent
Capcom’s sales have taken a significant dive during the first quarter of the 2024 fiscal year. Other areas of its business like Arcade Operations and Amusement Equipment did see a 18.1% and 147.2% rise respectively.
While we’re already well into Q2 of this fiscal year, Capcom just released its report, which showed a 44% dive in sales compared to Q1 2023. Its digital sales have slowed down, dropping 38%, which we can all assume, including Capcom itself, is due to the lack of big hit releases.
At this time, the Japanese game maker isn’t churning out games, but it does have some real potential hits right around the corner, like next year’s Monster Hunter Wilds, and three games tied to existing IPs slated for the remainder of this year — Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.
Capcom has been shying away from following the new normal when it comes to AAA game prices, so far Dragon’s Dogma 2 has remained the only game to be priced at $70, though, it is open to more releases, especially as players gave “moderate reception” to the $70 price tag.
