Microsoft’s CEO Revealed How Impactful the Fallout TV Show Was

In a recent financial update, Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, spoke at length about the company’s successes over the last quarter. He addressed the Fallout franchise, talking about the impact that the recently launched television series had on the games – which was made apparent by skyrocketing player counts following the arrival of the show’s first season on Amazon’s Prime Video service.

Big Numbers

Speaking to investors and media in a call, Nadella touched on the previously revealed note that Fallout is the second most-watched Prime Video series ever. Amazon made that fact clear shortly after the series debuted in April 2024.

He also mentioned that quarter-over-quarter, the ‘hours played’ for Fallout games on Xbox Game Pass soared, with the stat multiplying fivefold as millions of new players found their way into the ecosystem. Titles like Fallout 76 experienced monumental growth, reaching new heights on all platforms as more players than ever before flooded the Fallout franchise.

In the weeks after the release of the Fallout TV show, Bethesda Game Studios released the long-awaited next-gen update for Fallout 4 and published the biggest update ever for Fallout 76, which welcomed hundreds of thousands of new users.

That’s not bad for a franchise which isn’t expected to get another new game for at least another six or seven years.
