Star Wars Outlaws is an upcoming open-world game set within a galaxy far, far away, featuring a new cast of characters and familiar settings. The gaming community has been begging for an open-world Star Wars game, and Massive Entertainment has stepped up to fill the void with an original tale.

The developers aimed to provide a different perspective never seen or tackled in other Star Wars projects set during the Skywalker Saga and to allow the gaming community to feel the Galactic Civil War first-hand. Other popular game mechanics and features from other franchises will be seen throughout the story.

The Empire Is Quick on Its Feet When It Comes to Theft in Star Wars Outlaws

Massive Entertainment crafted an original story set within the Star Wars universe without focusing on the Force, the Jedi, the Sith, or other major factions the franchise was known for.

New details have surfaced about the activities that could transpire in the travels of Kay Vess and Nix, and it seems that the developers took notes from the random events in Star Wars Outlaws from Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2.

Kay is a scoundrel living her life under the rule of the Empire and has no ties to the Rebellion. The story is about a scoundrel fighting for scraps to survive by any means necessary and resorting to a life of crime. The Stormtroopers are the primary enforcers of the Empire, and while they may have a terrible aim in other iterations, they have a keen eye for theft.

Other earlier games, like the Assassin’s Creed franchise, had a similar feature, which was more of a nuisance for players trying to make a quick and clean getaway from the crime scene.

Similarly to Red Dead Redemption 2, the law will place a bounty on the heads of the players, bounty hunters will pursue the player anywhere on the map, and the price will determine how large a hunting party will track a player down.

The developers also incorporated a wanted system, a game mechanic that resembles the wanted system in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. This will provide an added challenge for the players to evade the corrupt clutches of the Empire.

Assassin’s Creed Ran So Star Wars Outlaws Could Fly

Both franchises are published under Ubisoft, and it would make sense for various teams to coordinate and lend a hand to make the production much smoother and more convenient. Despite having a couple of years as a head start, the Assassin’s Creed franchise is improving the stealth gameplay by adding a prone mechanic for the latest entry.

It can be surprising to see modern triple-A games borrow game mechanics from other franchises, and there is no shame in that. Massive Entertainment realized certain mechanics work because they appeal to the gaming community, and there is no reason to remove them.

The Star Wars franchise has been around for the past couple of years, but the focus has mostly been on the conflict between Jedi and Sith. The upcoming project is an opportunity to explore untouched aspects of the universe, like being a civilian during the Galactic Civil War.

Kay and Nix are trying to survive the way they know how, and there are consequences. Hopefully, Stormtroopers are lousy shots in this project as well.
