FromSoftware All But Officially Acknowledges Its Own Mistake in Latest Elden Ring Patch, Confirming What We Always Knew
Elden Ring’s latest patch has arrived, and it proves that the community has always been right about one thing – Mimic Tears are overpowered. Among the various quality-of-life changes, the updates have kept this Summon aside, for good reasons.
Spirit Ashes can be helpful allies in battle, but FromSoftware seems to be making sure that one Summon in particular doesn’t become more powerful than it already is.
Mimic Tear User? It’s Not Your Time to Shine
Elden Ring’s latest patch has introduced some significant changes to the game’s universe. Certain attacks feel a bit stronger, enemies respond a bit differently, and overall, the game’s quality of life feels a bit better.
However, Summons always found the perfect balance between the game’s difficulty levels and a player’s accessibility. As such, the Mimic Tear remains unaffected by the latest changes.
This has been pointed out by user AverageSoul on Twitter. The player comments now how FromSoftware has actively chosen to avoid making any improvements/changes to the Mimic Tear.

This funny little detail speaks volumes about how the studio views this gameplay mechanic. Mimic Tears are duplicates of the player’s character, and as such, provide much-needed assistance during boss fights.
While the Summon’s AI can be a bit questionable at times, it can take plenty of damage and deal heavy attacks based on the player’s build. It’s like having a personal assistant without having to go through the trouble of finding actual friends.
Using a Mimic Tear Feels Like Activating a Cheat Code in Elden Ring
If you’re wondering which Spirit Ashes should be at the top of your list, Mimic Tear can be an easy choice. Instead of FP, it costs 660 HP to summon one, but can quickly become the reason why a boss struggles to fight you, and not the other way around.
Speaking with Roderika the spirit-tuner can help you upgrade this Summon and bring out its best potential. Before you summon your Mimic Tear, it’s advisable to equip the best weapon and gear. After all, it’s your duplicate!
Given how useful this mechanic is in the game, there’s a low chance that FromSoftware will ever truly nerf this Summon. Many players can find certain bosses and areas in the game almost inaccessible due to their difficulty, and then when something like a Summon comes in handy.
If you’re new to the game and haven’t found this Summon yet, head to the Night’s Sacred Ground and open the chest behind the imp statue door. This doesn’t take a lot of time and can prove to be a worthy adventure.
