Despite FromSoftware’s Efforts, The Elden Ring Community Still Won’t Let Them Get Away With One Disappointing Aspect of Shadow of the Erdtree

Elden Ring’s newest patch is now available and has introduced several new enhancements and some nerfs. Fans of the game can now enjoy higher damage output, but they will also have to get used to some changed mechanics.

Unfortunately, not everything in the update is positive. Some fans have been speaking out about performance issues they have encountered, especially on PC, for a while now. While the update does state it has made certain aspects stable in the game, there is still a lot left to do.

Elden Ring Patch for Shadow of the Erdtree Fails to Fix Performance Issues

Advancing technology has allowed game developers to take their titles and experiences to the next level and PC players benefit the most. While Elden Ring came out just two years ago, it does not have the latest features many have come to expect.

One of the most talked-about forms of performance markers in PC gaming these days is frame rate. Most PC players can enjoy the best of both worlds with 4K at 60+ FPS, which is now the minimum expectation from a title. But, it seems FromSoftware did not get this memo as, even after the patch, the game is unable to hit that benchmark in the starting areas.

Now, the patch has introduced important and sought-after features, some of which fans have been asking for since the game’s release. But it doesn’t seem to have given the same amount of attention to the game’s performance. Some fans have called this out, stating that they experience regular drops in frame rate, especially during intense fights.

PC players also have to contend with the lack of upscalers, ultra-wide support, FPS locks, and other issues, which leaves a lot to be desired in the game. It can also be frustrating to have to play with performance akin to the previous generation of consoles despite having a well-equipped PC, especially in an era where far more demanding games can reach 120 FPS or higher.

Those on PC may not be fully satisfied with the latest patch, but there are some changes brought to the game that should get many players excited to continue their playthrough or start a new one. Several Spirit Ashes have received poise buffs, including an HP, attack power, and magic power buff to Latenna.

With the right build, this turret-style summon can melt bosses! Several skills and spells have also been improved, allowing them to either deal more damage or be used in quick succession. Glintstone Nails, a new favorite from the DLC, now has even better enemy tracking, allowing the projectiles to reach their destination more reliably.

Savage Lions Calw’s, another fan favorite, is now much easier to use as well. Even unpopular incantations, such as Minor Erdtree, have received an improvement in how they function. It’s still not worth the FP and Faith investment, but one would have hoped an Elden Ring performance fix would have been included in a patch that buffed such a spell.
