Candlewood Trailer Park incident ends in homicide arrest

CLIFTON, Colo. (KREX) — Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office made a homicide arrest at Candlewood Trailer Park in Clifton Wednesday night.

At 7:46 p.m., deputies arrived at the trailer park, located at 424 32 Road in Clifton, after receiving a report of an assault. The caller stated two people were being assaulted by a man in front of their home.

When deputies arrived, they found an adult woman with multiple injuries and an adult man who was severely injured and unresponsive. CPR was administered to the man, but after attempts were unsuccessful he was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect was quickly located and agreed to speak with investigators. Shortly after, 25-year-old William Lovett was arrested and is currently being held on the following charges:

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office is responsible for determining the cause and manner of death and the victim’s identity. This is an active investigation; no further information is available at this time.
