Xbox Confirms That Mobile Store Testing Has Begun

According to a new report by Tom Warren, Xbox has offered a direct statement to The Verge revealing that testing is under way for the Xbox mobile store.

Head of Xbox communications Kari Perez reportedly said that “testing has begun for our browser-based mobile store.” They also added that “our work is progressing well and we will have more to share in the future.”

Warren also pointed to the recent post on X from Klobrille, who spotted a notable Xbox Insiders message earlier this week.

The message claimed that the Xbox Mobile Store is “coming soon,” and mentions holdback groups for a testing process.

In May 2024, Xbox president Sarah Bond first announced the anticipated mobile store with a July 2024 release window. The mobile store was notably absent as July came to a close.

Perez did not offer further details about the cause for delay, nor a concrete date for more updates.

During Bond’s original announcement, Xbox confirmed the mobile store would first launch with a first-party portfolio. As a result, fans can expect popular titles like Minecraft to appear first.

Bond also said that “we’re going to start on the web,” since that will be “accessible across all devices, all countries.”

Xbox is currently preparing to bring its “biggest booth yet” to Gamescom 2024, hosting over 50 titles for the event.
