Black Ops 6 Needs to Back to the Franchise

It would be an understatement to say that fans already have mixed feelings towards Black Ops 6. While it seems to be doing many things right, some updates regarding the game have become a point of concern for fans.

Long-term fans of the series who have been disappointed with Modern Warfare 3 and other recent titles are rightly looking at the upcoming title to redeem the series. If Treyarch could also bring back these five beloved game modes, chances of the game being received well will skyrocket.

#5 Prop Hunt

Prop Hunt was inarguably one of the most fun game modes to ever feature in a Call of Duty game. In the mode, players would be divided into two teams; one team would play the role of hunters, and others would play the role of Props.

As the name suggests, the Prop team would have to hide in plain sight by turning to the prop that doesn’t raise any suspicion in the hunter team. The Hunters, on the other hand, must identify the enemy team posing as props on the map and hunt them down.

But Black Ops 6 bringing it back would not only help the learning curve for novice players as Prop Hunt is straightforward to pick up but also balance the overall dark setting of the Black Ops subseries.

#4 VIP Escort

While Alex Mason had attempted to kill a VIP once, you could once experience what it feels like to escort one in this game mode. Image Credits: Activision.

VIP Escort’s premise was elementary: two teams, each with a VIP player randomly chosen by the game. The winning condition was to either extract the ally team’s VIP to the exfil point or to eliminate the entire enemy Team or simply eliminate the enemy team’s VIP.

The randomly selected VIP also had a particular loadout as compared to other players in the game mode. Players have been excited for a fair share of features, like Theater Mode, confirmed to return to Black Ops 6. If VIP Escort were also on the list of things from previous games that Treyarch includes in the upcoming game, it could make for a positive outcome for the upcoming game.

#3 Sticks and Stones

Another casual game mode that has been absent from recent titles, especially Sledgehammer Games’ titles like Modern Warfare 3 (2023). The mode, which was last playable in Black Ops Cold War, was incredibly different from the usual Call of Duty gameplay loop.

Instead of the usual loadout associated with the series, players were only given melee weapons to neutralize enemies, and every player stood for themself in a free-for-all fashion. Getting this mode back would help switch things up and reassure players that Activision cares about the gameplay experience and not just Microtransactions.

#2 Double Agent

This was, perhaps, one of the unique game modes to ever grace the franchise. The game was like Call of Duty gameplay mixed with the Mafia video game series and had deduction elements similar to titles like LA Noire.

Double Agent had players gather resources by looting caches and preparing load-outs before dividing them into teams and double agents. As expected, operatives in this Call of Duty game mode aimed to hunt down Double Agents. The goal for double agents is to either eliminate all operatives or detonate all bombs without blowing their cover.

One of the operatives is assigned the role of an investigator and is tasked with aiding the operatives in finding and eliminating all the double agents. No one apart from Double Agents knew the exact roles of others. This game mode was immensely enjoyable with friends, and if it returns, it could attract many new players to the upcoming title.

#1 Outbreak

This game mode turned up the Call of Duty Zombies game mode experience to eleven. Featuring an open-world map, players were tasked with completing objects and ensuring that they completed world event requirements.

The objectives were to Defend, Holdout, Retrieve, Escort, Eliminate, Secure, and Transport. The activities in the open world were similar to those in Ubisoft’s Far Cry series and included elements like Fishing. Unlike many game modes that are sweatfests, this was a much more relaxed game mode.

Which one of these game modes would you feature in Black Ops 6 if you had the choice? Also, which of these game modes was your least favorite? We would love to know your thoughts in th comment section below!
