Just Like Helldivers 2’s Major Orders, XDefiant is Struggling to Engage Enough Players to Get Anywhere Near Completing Its Community Orders

Mission quests can be nice incentives for players, as they help keep the game active, fresh, and interesting. XDefiant is a live-service online shooter that tries to stay unique but can’t help borrowing certain ideas from games around.

Just like Major Orders in Helldivers 2, XDefiant has its own set of challenges that players can complete over time. Unfortunately, players aren’t able to do so, and it’s making the community a little upset.

Challenges Are Turning into a Chore for XDefiant Players

User Material_Science7756 on the Reddit community shares how tedious it feels to do challenges in the game at the moment.

As part of collective challenges, the game has tasked players to perform “ultras” four million times collectively.

For those who aren’t aware, ultras are like ultimate abilities that exist in most hero shooters. These are special actions that can be performed by players that boost their characters’ stats and perform something unique in battle.

Unfortunately, this fun mechanic has started feeling like a chore because of this community challenge. Moreover, players are getting tired of not being able to reach this goal.

Players further comment on how the game doesn’t feel the same anymore, and it’s almost like the devs have stopped listening to the community’s requests. Rather than being an enjoyable experience, the game is now starting to drain players’ time and energy.

Whether or not devs choose to fix or change this is not known, but given how Arrowhead has managed to change the narrative within Helldivers 2’s context does seem promising for the industry as a whole.

Recently, Arrowhead’s game had a similar problem with one of its challenges. The game wanted players to achieve a massive number of kills, but the community simply found this number impossible to achieve. However, the way Arrowhead handled this was nothing short of funny and inspiring.

The devs have given an ultimatum. If players don’t achieve this number, they’ll introduce a certain mechanic to the game that players have been joking about for a long time now.

Not only has this nurtured the community’s non-serious tone about things, but also given players something new to look forward to. XDefiant can do something similar, but it’s up to the devs’ creativity as to how things change from being a chore to something players can cherish.

While many aspects of the game such as diverse characters and gunplay keep it interesting, it’s still a live-service title that can eventually become the victim of monotony and boredom. For now, we can hope that the game’s creators can find new ways of building challenges for the players.
