4 teenagers, 2 adults seriously injured in crash near Ford Airport

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Four teenagers and two adults were hospitalized with serious injuries after a Thursday evening crash near the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, deputies say.

It happened just after 8 p.m. at 44th Street and Patterson Avenue SE, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say four teens were heading south on Patterson Avenue. As the teens turned into the airport, there was another car heading north on Patterson Avenue, according to the sheriff’s office. The two cars crashed.

The northbound car, which had two adults inside, caught fire, deputies say.

The sheriff’s office says everyone involved was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Kentwood police and Cascade firefighters also responded to the scene. Deputies continue to investigate.
