Dragons prop Hame Sele hospitalised mid-game

Hame Sele has been taken to hospital after suffering from an irregular heartbeat during the NRL clash between St George Illawarra and Canterbury.

The Dragons prop was promoted from the bench to the starting side on game day and played the opening 21 minutes of Saturday night’s clash at a packed Jubilee Oval.

But the 27-year-old Tongan international was taken from the field and to hospital after complaining of chest pains to a trainer.

A local junior, Sele rejoined the Dragons this year after four seasons at South Sydney.

His absence meant the Dragons were forced to contend with one fewer player on the bench.

The Bulldogs led the Dragons 20-10 at halftime following a double from left centre Bronson Xerri.
