Dylan DiPierdomenico pleads guilty to stealing $140k from golfing goods employer

The son of AFL great Robert “Dipper” DiPierdomenico has admitted he stole more than $140,000 from his employer.

Dylan DiPierdomenico, 41, returned before the Victorian County Court on Monday as his lawyer informed Judge Richard Maidment the case “had resolved”.

DiPierdomenico had been scheduled to face a 15-day trial in October but instead pleaded guilty to a single rolled-up charge of obtaining financial advantage by deception.

“Guilty, Your Honour,” he said, appearing in court via an audiovisual link.

The court was told DiPierdomenico dishonestly obtained $140,716 in golf products from his employer, MGI Golf, between August 17, 2018, and June 21, 2019.

MGI Golf is a golf company in Nunawading specialising in motorised golf buggies.

DiPierdomenico was initially charged with dozens of deception offences in April 2022, with police alleging at the time he funnelled the funds from sales into his own bank account to finance a gambling addiction.

It was alleged he altered MGI Golf’s invoices so that they contained his own bank details.

The former sales manager’s case was adjourned after his defence said they were waiting for a psychological report to be provided.

His father, Robert, was a much-loved Hawthorn Brownlow medallist, playing 240 games over a 16-year career before hanging up his boots to become a commentator.

DiPierdomenico will next return to court in January.
