Seabourn will be welcoming in two new ships in the next couple of years with the first debuting in 2016 and the subsequent in spring 2018. Both will be the 40,350-GRT design built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri S.p.A. For the second ship, hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany will be in charge of creating the ship in its entirety from indoor and outdoor public areas to its dining venues, the Spa at Seabourn and the casino and lounges.
Basing their configuration on the Seabourn Odyssey-class ships (Seabourn Sojourn, Seabourn Quest), the new vessels will include one additional deck, new expanded public areas and will hold 604 guests (based on double occupancy) in their all-suite accommodations. The ratio of guest per staff member is said to be about 1:1.
“When dealing with such important investments, exercising an option should never be taken for granted. We are very glad that Seabourn decided to ‘double’ its trust in us, especially considering that our partnership is very young and getting stronger quickly,” said Giuseppe Bono, Fincantieri Chief Executive Officer. “I believe that this clearly demonstrates that new clients as well as old, such as Seabourn’s parent company Carnival Corporation, and the market as a whole, consider Fincantieri as the world leader in the cutting-edge cruise line sector including the ultra-luxury segment where our partner for this project operates.”
In 2013, Seabourn was awarded World’s Best Small-Ship Cruise Line by Travel + Leisure and garnered a spot on Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards’ Gold List. With the addition of these two ships, Seabourn will boast some of the newest luxury vessels in the industry.
