Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 Server Downtime Has Just Been Extended Again
In a surprising turn of events, the previously already extended maintenance for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 arrival is being extended yet again for at least three more hours. The current ETA is now at least 8:00 PM ET, or 5:00 PM PST.
Despite not receiving an official announcement on the additional time, the Epic Games Status page has been updated to include an estimated time until this new maintenance is over. It now mentions the usual maintenance going from March 8 at 08:00 until March 9 at 01:00 UTC. A whopping 17-hour-long maintenance for a single update. Ouch.
Initially scheduled to go live at 08:00 AM ET, the Chapter 5 Season 2 update Myths & Mortals was suddenly pushed back due to some unspecified issues, leading to an initial 8-hour delay on its release as it was stated in the official Fortnite Status account on Twitter. It seems like things were really bad seeing as the game is now extending this downtime period even further.
Fortnite updates usually only need the usual five hours to go through, making this one of the longest maintenance periods in the game by far. Epic Games has yet to address the newest delay, and they haven’t specified any of the reasons for the update to take so long either.
This newest update features Olympian-themed skins, weapons, and locations for the game, with the first big names revealed being Zeus and Hades. But it seems like the Greek gods don’t enjoy hitting the griddy and are doing whichever they can to stop Epic Games on their tracks. And to be honest, I never took Hades for a good dancer.
So all that’s left is to be patient and wait until the battlefields are open for some godly shooting action in a few more hours. There’s still that slight chance to see yet another delay when the current ETA finally arrives, but let’s just hope that’s not the case here.
