The Stellar Blade Demo Was Briefly Available on the PS Store, Before Being Pulled Down Again

The Stellar Blade demo made its way to the PS Store by accident, which allowed content creators to dive in and stream gameplay on their platforms. The game caught the attention of the world because of its futuristic look, and the official launch is only a month away, but an internal mishap originated from the inside led to the unofficial demo launch.

PlayStation always gives their first-party games their moment to shine. It is routine at this point that they give upcoming games a small demo right before the release window to entice more players to buy on day one. There would be an official announcement through a trailer or blog post, but Stellar Blade caught everyone off guard. Mistakes like this can also reap some benefits.

PS Store Surprised Fans with the Stellar Blade Demo

Leaks and spoilers are bound to happen, but the unintentional release of a game’s playable demo is rare. Last month, PlayStation gave their users a free and sizable demo of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and it was a success despite the performance issues. The full-sized game was released smoothly, which also allowed those who finished it to carry over their progress once the game was fully purchased.

In the case of Stellar Blade, it was an unexpected surprise that neither Sony nor Shift Up meant to give.

Sony being the publisher and Shift Up as the producer, neither of them commented about this blunder so it may been just a mistake entirely. There is a possibility that there was some miscommunication that led to the demo being released unannounced, hence the quick removal, or could it be a marketing strategy to get players excited and build momentum like the PT demo.

Stellar Blade is RePTing History

Since the removal of the Stellar Blade demo, there is no word whether PlayStation will offer it on the PS Store anymore, perhaps the first gameplay look provided by streamers was enough to gain traction before the launch next month. Regardless of how it came about, the fans were still treated to a brand-new demo by surprise. The only negative takeaway is that not a lot of people were able to get their hands on it.

Stellar Blade is the latest PlayStation-exclusive title to grace the PS5, and players have waited patiently to experience Shift Up’s futuristic game and soak in the majestic visuals.

Maybe it was a mistake that rooted because it was lost from translation, or whatever reason for a demo of the scale being released unintentionally didn’t harm the game and has given it an extra boost of attention to remind everyone that it is coming out next month on April 26.

Fans are only hoping that before its release, maybe Sony can release the demo officially and not have it taken down like in the unfortunate case of PT.
