Free Big Brother! Collectible Locations
Continuing with our Astro Bot guides, specifically covering all the levels of Serpent Starway, an area unlocked after completing all the levels of the tentacle system. The central theme of this unusual level involves rescuing a giant bot that the game’s main enemies have kidnapped.
Once again, you’ll need to find a total of 10 collectibles and uncover a secret. This is a comprehensive guide to all of the Free Big Brother! collectible locations! The sandy arena setting of this level makes most of its collectibles easily visible.
Puzzle Piece 1
Before you land, this level doesn’t have any secrets. Once in the arena, if you head a bit to the right, you’ll see a tall, rocky formation.
If you approach from one of the edges, you’ll notice that this rocky formation is hollow inside, with small animal-like bots taking shelter from the rain. If you get close, the first of three Astro Bot collectible puzzle pieces will appear. There will be 10 collectibles to take.
Bot 1
After leaving the hollow rock formation, head slightly to the left, and you’ll see an enemy that shoots acid. After defeating it, you’ll be able to jump onto a stone platform.
Continue climbing to the right, rotating the camera until you see the first of the seven bots available in Free Big Brother!, ready to be rescued. Most of the collectibles are close to this area, as this level is smaller compared to others.
Bot 2 (The Last Guardian Bot)
Once you descend from the rock where you rescued the first bot, continue a little to the right without deviating from the main path. Jumping onto a rock in the middle of the water, you’ll see three enemies chasing a bird’s cord.
Defeat these enemies and grab the bird’s rope, which will take you to some clothing platforms a bit higher up. Follow the path along the platforms until you come across a bot referencing Fumito Ueda’s The Last Guardian. Several easily defeated enemies will guard it.
Puzzle Piece 2
After defeating these enemies and rescuing The Last Guardian bot, descend from the stone platform and return to the spot where the bird lifted you up. But this time, instead of heading back to the same stone platforms, wait for the bird to make a full circle.
It will drop you onto a rocky formation with a wall you can break. After smashing through the wall, you’ll continue a bit further until you find a destructible floor. Using Astro’s foot beam, break the ground, descend, and pull a cord to reveal the second of the three puzzle pieces.
Bot 3 (Mono Bot from Shadow of the Colossus)
Once you return to the surface, where the destructible floor was, head a bit to the left until you find a small nook between some rocks and another breakable floor. Smashing this area will reveal a hidden trampoline that will launch you upward.
Once there, you’ll encounter another destructible wall, behind which is a portal. After passing through the portal, you’ll enter a cave where you’ll need to defeat three electrified enemies. If you destroy the ground with Astro’s beam, you’ll reveal another trampoline to the far left. Jumping on this will lead you to a bot that references Mono, the character from Shadow of the Colossus.
Puzzle Piece 3
Returning to the main area of the level, once you’ve unlocked most of the locks on the robot scattered throughout the level, Free Big Brother! will transition from a nighttime level to a much brighter daytime scene.
When you return to the level center, you’ll notice a wooden gazebo in the middle of the beach. On the roof of this gazebo, you’ll find the third and final puzzle piece collectible for this level.
Bot 4
After descending from the gazebo roof on the same beach, head toward the giant robot waiting for you to interact with it. Before climbing the rocks, you’ll see a circular patch of sand with a crack in the middle.
If you stand on the crack and hold square to perform the spinning attack, you’ll reveal a secret area where the fourth of the seven rescue bots is located. These bots make up the Free Big Brother! collectibles.
Bot 5 (Wander Bot from Shadow of the Colossus)
Continuing with the references to Shadow of the Colossus, once you jump out of the hole where you found the fourth bot, you’ll finally interact with the giant bot, who will offer you a hand to start climbing.
As you ascend its arm and eventually reach its shoulders, you’ll notice a bot hanging there, indicating that it’s a Colossus, similar to the protagonist in Fumito Ueda’s game, Shadow of the Colossus. The Wander bot is always battling against massive creatures.
Bot 6
This giant robot helping you complete the level will pull a giant seashell out of the water, which you’ll need to scale by circling around it. Once you cross the seashell’s right side, the Astro Bot‘s beam will reveal a floor that you can destroy.
Break it, and after defeating an enemy, you’ll see clamshell platforms you can use to access the area below. A bot will be waiting for rescue on one of these clamshell platforms, a bit further down.
Bot 7
Continue moving along the clamshells until you reach the top, where you will find the platform to complete the level. Before finishing the level, you’ll notice an open clam where the last of the seven collectible bots is waiting.
This bot is simple to reach, with no enemies to defeat—just give it a quick hit, and it will join the rest of the bots you’ve rescued. This completes the 10 collectibles available in Free Big Brother!
Lost Galaxy
To unlock the lost galaxy in this level, you’ll need to start it again. Immediately upon starting, look behind you and jump onto some platforms in the water.
This will cause an enemy to appear out of nowhere, floating in a UFO. One of the enemy’s traits is the ability to shoot lightning. You’ll need to lure it onto two platforms marked with a lightning bolt symbol, which will activate a secret door and lead you to the lost galaxy.
