Palworld Won’t Switch Over To Live-Service Model

Palworld has been one the of the big gaming success stories of 2024, but fans of the game were upset by a recently published interview which suggested that developer Pocketpair was considering a switch to live-service model. However, Pocketpair quickly released a follow-up statement which denied that change, while hinting at the possibility of adding microtransactions to the game at a later time.

Pocketpair’s official X account for Palworld dropped a lengthy message which assured fans that the interview in question was conducted months earlier. While discussions remain ongoing, the statement assured fans that “the F2P/GaaS approach is not suitable for us.”

“Palworld was never designed with that model in mind, and it would require too much work to adapt the game at this point,” continued Pocketpair. “Additionally, we are very aware that this just isn’t what our players want, and we always put our players first.”

Regarding the future of the game, Pocketpair’s post did say that the company is “still considering skins and DLC for Palworld in future as a means to support development.” But the developer promised to maintain its open dialogue with fans about the future of Palworld.

Palworld is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
