Perth fans offered chance to see AFL Grand Final on big screen in new 7plus partnership at Yagan Square
Perth footy fans will get a chance to watch this year’s AFL Grand Final on Yagan Square’s big screen, after a partnership between the State Government and 7plus.
The September 28 decider will air on the screen in Northbridge, where fans can join in pre-game celebrations, including competitions, giveaways, and footy challenges as well as a set by DJ Kevin Wilson.
The Sydney Swans and Port Adelaide Power, and the Geelong Cats and Brisbane Lions will play preliminary finals this weekend to decide the final two teams in the fight for the premiership.
Despite no chance of seeing WA teams on the screen, footy fans will be able to see Perth’s own AFL greats on a live panel and get autographs from between 11am to 12pm.
From 12.30pm, the game will be broadcast live through 7plus on Yagan Square’s 7m by 4m LED screen.
This partnership also sees the launch of the Stories licensed pop-up zone at Yagan Square, which will provide a premium viewing location along with a specially curated food and beverage menu.
Lands Minister John Carey said the partnership showed Yagan Square’s growing significance as a premier event space.
“The State Government is excited to bring this major event to Yagan Square, offering a free and accessible opportunity for Western Australians to experience the AFL Grand Final in a vibrant, central location,” he said.
“We look forward to welcoming footy fans from across the city to enjoy the 2024 AFL Grand Final at Yagan Square.
“The Cook Labor Government is driving the revitalisation of our city and is investing hundreds of millions of dollars to create jobs, economic activity and attract more people to the Perth CBD.”
