GTA Online‘s popularity has been dipping already and due to hackers, the game has already lost most of its authentic fanbase. It took Rockstar Games a lot of time to introduce this but finally, players will be able to experience the game peacefully.

GTA Online On PC Now Has BattlEye Anti-Cheat

A much-needed update was made to GTA 5 and GTA Online‘s anti-cheat software in the title update 1.69. On their official website, Rockstar Games confirmed that the BattlEye Anti-Cheat has been integrated and an option to disable BattlEye Anti-Cheat for Story Mode play has been added to Rockstar Games Launcher.

BattlEye is a fully proactive kernel-based protection system used to prevent hackers in games like Arma 3, Rainbow Six Siege, Escape From Tarkov, Destiny 2, and more. Since 2015, hackers have been a huge problem in GTA Online PC but with BattlEye, fans should expect to see fewer hackers and modders in the game now.

BattlEye Anti-Cheat has some issues and Rockstar Games has revealed that players will have to follow some steps to make sure it runs smoothly on their system. BattlEye is known to not work properly with the following graphics modification software: ReShade and Special_K. These mods will be disabled during gameplay.

BattlEye is also known not to work properly with the following antivirus programs: AVG and Trend Micro, so players will have to temporarily disable these antivirus programs to run the game smoothly. At the moment, Steam Deck does not support BattlEye for GTA Online. Players will be able to play GTA V Story Mode but unable to play GTA Online.

Rockstar Games took 9 years to implement a better anti-cheat software for GTA Online finally and unfortunately, most fans have already uninstalled the game because of hackers. Nonetheless, the studio can hope that this new update will convince fans to return to the game.

The community is more focused on the next Grand Theft Auto installment, GTA 6, but so far Rockstar hasn’t revealed anything after the first trailer. The anticipation is quite high as several leaks have surfaced on social media. many players found the recent Bottom Dollar Bounties quite disappointing but it’s clear that Rockstar is more focused on the development of GTA 6.
