Remnant 2 May Be Done With DLCs, But David Adams Promises Free Upgrades for the ‘Foreseeable Future’ Are Still On The Table

Remnant 2 was released a year ago for the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC and received universal praise from the gaming community and critics alike. David Adams served as the game director and wanted to assure the fans that the studio is adamant about providing the best experience possible and will continue to provide post-launch support through free updates.

The ambitious scope and scale of the game are too good to pass up and the Gunfire Games developers have many things they want to share. The original game was well-received, and the studio wanted to expand the lore with new story content through a DLC, and the sequel may receive the same treatment.

Remnant 2 Will Receive Many Free Updates From Gunfire Games

The developers have already released one of the three planned DLCs called The Awakened King which provided more content for the game and promised to continue improving the experience with updates. Players take on the role of a Traveler as they embark on a quest to save the multiverse from threats of the unknown and the developers introduce different traits for them to choose from. However, not all of the provided traits in Remnant 2 are useful and have less desirable qualities like the Wayfarer. This trait allows players to move at insane speeds which should have been a default for a game of this magnitude.

Gunfire Games saw the great potential of the franchise and wanted to keep striking the hammer while the iron was still hot. Fans loved the idea of combining the features of the Soulslike franchise that made it beloved and renowned. The premise of another post-apocalyptic future, where a nameless survivor is the last hope to thwart the collective demise of everything else can be quite familiar. However, the studio integrated other features that made Remnant 2 a commercial and critical success.

David Adams revealed that the studio does have more plans for the game apart from the other two major story expansions that will likely be released later this year. Adams was grateful for how the gaming community embraced this project with open arms and wanted to assure the player base that more improvements would come without an extra charge. However, the game director did not mention when the players will see some of these changes but is confident about it given the positive reception and feedback.

Adams is wise to take the gaming community’s opinions, suggestions, and feedback as vital data on ways to improve and grow. Some fans would like to see an increase in the number of players that can fight together in a single lobby. However, Gunfire Games wanted to find the perfect balance between fighting an uphill battle and having equal chances of winning against overpowered enemies.

Hopefully, these updates will address what the gaming community has been asking for and improve other things and smaller details. Remnant 2 players can now play with friends on any platform through crossplay which is doing wonders for the franchise. Removing the barrier of platform choice can bring the Remnant community together.

Providing more post-launch support is a way to show that game developers still care about the project and the player base. Hopefully, Adams will keep his word and continue to share updates before the next story expansions go live later this year.

It is rare to see game developers work on an already finished product. Adams wanted this game to succeed and went the extra mile to assure the player base of free updates coming sooner rather than later.

Gunfire Games struck gold with this franchise and it would be a shame to see it all go to waste without supporting it after the launch period. The gaming community highly regards this franchise and Remnant 2 can keep the momentum going for the foreseeable future.
