Marvel’s Daredevil Cannot Ignore The Last of Us Mechanics That is Tailor Made for the Perfect Man Without Fear Gameplay

Marvel’s Daredevil is something the gaming community has been begging for after the success of Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise and will be giving Logan the same level of commitment and care in the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine project. Matt Murdock lost his sight at a young age after a heroic act where he gained much more than he lost, which can be perfectly adapted into a video game and use his disability and echolocation as a unique gameplay mechanic.

Superhero games are all the rage nowadays, and Insomniac Games has struck gold with previous projects. It would make sense for the game developers to grant the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen a similar treatment, especially after easter eggs confirmed his existence in Earth-1048.

Marvel’s Daredevil Can Work as a Video Game and Take Notes From One Other PlayStation Exclusive

Insomniac Games did not falter under the pressure of crafting an original story and universe for a new version of Spider-Man. After the first game was released in 2018, the gaming community is convinced that superhero games can thrive in this format thanks to the developer’s profound understanding of the character and his abilities. Some superheroes are too complicated to adapt like Superman given his unique powers and abilities but this is one area where Marvel’s Daredevil can take advantage.

The gaming community is eager to see Earth-1048 expand with more heroes and villains. Marvel’s Spider-Man confirmed that Daredevil exists after a brief easter egg. The developers are making great progress with Marvel’s Wolverine and this entry is much darker and bloodier than Spider-Man while Daredevil is somewhere in between.

If Insomniac made a daredevil game, how do you think the gameplay would work?

Matt Murdock is a lawyer by day and a vigilante by night, giving the character a little gray area in which to operate within and outside the law. Murdock developed echolocation after losing his sight in his youth, which gave him heightened senses, and he learned to defend himself through it. Hearing is arguably his best ability, as he can hear faint whispers through walls and even heartbeats, which could work in a video game like The Last of Us, where the characters have a listening mode to detect potential threats within the area.

The live-action adaptation of Marvel’s Daredevil highlights the character’s flexibility and parkour skills which will work in a video game. Murdock is not enhanced by any means making him vulnerable and he can bleed like any ordinary man. Joel, Ellie, and Abby have a listen mode feature in The Last of Us, which will allow them to track enemy movement, which is not the worst idea for a game in the stealth genre. Perhaps Naughty Dog could inspire Insomniac Games to do the same.

Superheroes can be tricky to adapt, especially those with complicated abilities. Daredevil is a grounded hero who monitors street-level threats and can handle himself nicely whereas heroes like the Avengers are more into the supernatural. Daredevil can work nicely as a video game, but developers should avoid the open-world approach by focusing on a linear story.

Older games like the Batman: Arkham trilogy prove Daredevil can work as a video game. The developers can write a great story, combat, and gameplay mechanics for solving mysteries and other crimes to let the player feel like the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Insomniac Games can make a shorter and smaller project by keeping it grounded and removing all open-world activities for a linear experience.

It is the golden age for superhero video games and it wouldn’t hurt to give the Man Without Fear his solo adventure in a larger shared universe. Perhaps the developers can embed secret easter eggs and other Marvel references for the gaming community to discover and solidify that everything in Earth-1048 is connected.

Insomniac Games are renowned for their cinematography, especially how the team choreographed the emotional ending of Marvel’s Spider-Man. Video games are beginning to match the skill and dedication of Hollywood filmmakers behind massive blockbusters, showing that both mediums are capable of great artistry.

The Last of Us has given the players a fighting chance to detect threats before being thrown into the deep end. The listening mode feature could benefit a Daredevil game if a developer were to pursue this project.
