Teacher placed on leave after ‘inappropriate comments’ at Copper Hills Elementary

MAGNA, Utah (ABC4) — Granite School District officials have issued a statement regarding a teacher that was placed on administrative leave after making “inappropriate comments” to a group of students last week.

“The District is aware of allegations concerning inappropriate comments made by a teacher at Copper Hills Elementary related to school safety,” the statement from Granite School District reads. “These comments were reportedly directed at a small group of students last week.”

According to the school district, allegations have been made against the teacher about making a threat of violence against the school.

“We do not believe the teacher made a credible threat of violence against the school,” officials responded. “The teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. Upon the investigation’s conclusion, the District will take any necessary corrective actions. We are unable to comment further on an ongoing investigation.”
