Peter Dutton heading to WA in pre-election blitz, politician to attend Telethon and Perth Royal Show

Peter Dutton is preparing for another pre-election blitz of WA — pencilled in to visit the kingmaker state three times over the next five weeks.

Sources said Mr Dutton will be in Perth this week for a two-day visit, possibly visiting the Perth Royal Show on Thursday.

Mr Dutton will also attend this year’s Telethon as well as the WA Liberal’s state conference on October 19.

And on October 31, Mr Dutton will combine with former Prime Ministers John Howard and Tony Abbott to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the federal Liberal Party at a gala dinner in Perth.

WA is emerging as a kingmaker state this federal Election, which can happen any time from now through to May next year.

While Prime Minister Albanese is desperate to hang on to the seats Labor won in WA last election — Tangney, Pearce, Swan and Hasluck m Mr Dutton’s Liberals are throwing everything at winning back Curtin which was won by Independent Kate Chaney in 2022.

The Liberals also want Tangney back — and are also in a fight with the Nationals and Labor to win the new federal seat of Bullwinkel.
