Helldivers 2 Comeback Against Space Marine 2 is Only Possible if Arrowhead Betrays Sony

Ever since its launch, Helldivers 2 has been a hot topic in the gaming industry. Initially, the game garnered attention from players and critics with its immersive narrative and engaging multiplayer gameplay, leaving players excited and wanting more. However, after two months, Sony dropped a nuke on the Helldivers community by announcing that the game now requires a PSN account.

This move left many players frustrated and angry. However, after the huge backlash, Sony reverted its decisions but the damage was done to the game’s reputation. Not only did many players quit but it also left many unable to play the game. While Arrowhead has slowly recovered from this tragedy through regular updates, to truly reclaim its spotlight it must overcome these restrictions and rally the forces of super soldiers worldwide.

Regional Barriers Blocking Helldivers 2 from Achieving Success

Helldivers 2 has every tool in its arsenal to rival the latest Space Marine 2, and the latest update proved that when the community was very enthusiastic and happy to return to the game. However, to fully gain the approval of the community, Arrowhead needs to remove the biggest roadblock in its way: the regional block due to the PSN account requirement.

Even though Sony reversed its decision to make the PSN account mandatory for players to access and play the game, the game is still region-locked in 118 countries, limiting access for many potential players and its success.

This major restriction not only affects player base growth drastically but also dilutes the true essence of the community that made the game a cult classic in the first place.

However, Arrowhead has the key to unlocking the game’s true potential by making a very bold decision. If it were to sever ties with Sony, it would effectively eliminate the barriers that restrict access to players in these 118 locked regions. This would also allow the game to reach a wider audience and significantly enhance its multiplayer experience.

While at first it may seem like a very drastic move, to fully utilize the game’s potential and to tap into new markets, it looks like a necessary one. This move will not only help revitalize the community’s faith in the game (allowing blocking players to once again play the game) but also attract new players who are eager to engage in cooperative gameplay (in new markets).

The Path Forward for Arrowhead

With the recent release of Space Marine 2 gaining traction in the community, the pressure is on for Helldivers 2 to stand out in a crowded field. While both games provide players with action-packed, cooperative gameplay coupled with a rich narrative, Helldivers 2 has a unique edge with its satirical take on militarism and democracy.

Since its release, players knew the game has very potential to become an inclusive experience that could elevate gameplay experience to new heights. However, this special edge will get dulled very quickly if Arrowhead does not act now, as it has once again gained attention because of its latest patch to broaden the game’s accessibility.

If Arrowhead Game Studios makes the pivotal decision of abandoning the constraints of Sony’s PSN region locking and starts embracing a more inclusive approach. This will open the floodgates to a vast pool of new players who are eager to join the ranks of super soldiers and fight to liberate planets and spread democracy.

In the end, everything not only depends on Arrowhead but also on the players to show their love and support for the game to make the studio even consider the jump. If it does, it can bring the game back into the limelight that it certainly deserves.
