Everett shooting suspect dead following police pursuit and crash on I-5

A man is dead after a shooting and a police chase in Everett on Monday afternoon, according to the Everett Police Department.

The incident began at around 1:05 p.m. when officers were dispatched to the Park View Apartments on the 1100 block of West Casino Road in response to reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, officers found two victims—a man who had died and a woman with non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Witnesses at the scene identified the suspect and his vehicle, and officers quickly located the suspect’s car near 19th Avenue Southeast and El Capitan Way.

The pursuit then continued onto I-5 North.

The chase came to an end near milepost 190, where the suspect’s vehicle crashed, involving other uninvolved vehicles.

Shortly after the crash, officers reported hearing gunshots coming from the suspect’s vehicle.

When officers safely approached the scene, they discovered the suspect was dead.

No shots were fired by law enforcement during the incident.

I-5 north and south were initially closed, but I-5 south has since reopened.

Partial lane closures remain in effect on I-5 north as the investigation continues, and drivers are advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes.

Update 3: All lanes of NB I-5, north of SR 526 (MP 189) in Everett are still blocked for an earlier incident.

With multiple events & closures happening this weekend in the Puget Sound area, please give yourself EXTRA time, we’re seeing 3 mile backups both directions of I-5. pic.twitter.com/CxWewJj11s
