Man dead after hours-long standoff situation in East Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man is dead following a standoff situation with SWAT and Metro Nashville police Saturday morning at the scene of a shooting near the Historic Edgefield neighborhood.
Officers were dispatched to the scene near N. 7th Street and Ramsey Street around 5:52 a.m. after 31-year-old Michael Ridley allegedly threatened two people inside the residence, causing them to flee, police said.

He was believed to be the same suspect who shot at an officer during a foot pursuit around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. The officer was uninjured in the incident.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said officers heard a gunshot go off inside the apartment at 6:39 a.m. and have not had contact with Ridley since.
News 2 observed a very heavy police presence at the scene. Officers used a loudspeaker to communicate with Ridley inside the residence, saying, “We have a warrant for your arrest. Come out with your hands in view and you will not be harmed.”
Police said they were able to make entry into the home where they discovered a man deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot would.
The Tennessee Medical Examiner’s Office is working to confirm his identification, according to Metro PD.
