CLEVELAND (WJW) — A man and a woman were taken into custody early Saturday morning following a trooper pursuit that ended in a vehicle crash, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Around 2:30 a.m., a trooper attempted to pull over the driver of a black Honda Civic on I-90 westbound who had reportedly been seen committing “multiple traffic violations.” While the driver did stop at first, they then took off, causing the trooper to give chase down SR-2.

The driver, attempting to lose the trooper, took the West 6th Street exit before getting back on SR-2 in the opposite direction. They then took the East 9th Street exit before merging back onto 2. The turn getting onto I-90 West proved too much, and led the driver to crash, according to troopers.

OSHP said the man driving the car was taken to the hospital and his female passenger was deemed OK at the scene. Neither the man or woman have been named.

The driver is reportedly going to be facing the following charges: fleeing and eluding, OVI and possession of a controlled substance, OSHP said.
