VALORANT’s Most Useless Agent Will Need An Overwatch-Level Rework To Be Relevant Again: Riot Devs

One of the many reasons for Valorant‘s huge success is its diverse character roster. As of now, the game features 26 agents scattered throughout four different categories. If played to their potential, all of these agents can be OP. But there is one agent who might not have gotten there where it was supposed to.

This agent is Harbor. Despite being released almost two years ago, this agent is yet to get the trust of the fans. Because of its weak ability kit and lack of defensive skills, this Indian agent is probably the least-picked one in the game. However, things are going to change pretty soon.

Harbor Will Have a Larger Scope of Work in Valorant

Recently, Valorant has put up a video on their official YouTube channel in which the developers of the game addressed some major aspects of the game: player behaviors, balance, and anti-cheat.

Talking about gameplay and balance, the product manager (gameplay), Coleman Palm, and the game designer, Dan Hardison, stated that before the year ends, we are going to see a larger scope of changes. This is what the duo told about Harbor:

We know a lot of you will be expecting Harbor changes with this patch, but unfortunately, they’re taking a little bit longer since we think he needs larger scope work and we’re still exploring our options here.

That means we are going to see a huge buff on Harbor before the end of 2024. And it’s great news for all the mains of this Controller. Now, the developers have also stated that all of the upcoming buffs will be shipped in a certain way so that they are not overly disruptive.

Now this overhaul change in Harbor might remind you of another popular FPS title’s complete rework, and that title is Overwatch 2. In Season 9 of the game, this Blizzard title got a complete rework, in terms of skills, competitive plays like progression and points, substantial changes in all the heroes, and whatnot!

Why Does Harbor Need an Overhaul Change?

After Iso’s entry into the roster, players were not too fond of this Chinese contractor. However, after his dramatic series of buffs and nerfs, this agent has become a meta. That is why, to change the fate of Harbor as well, this Controller needs some serious changes.

As a Controller, the biggest USP should always be smoke—its integrity and duration. But the sad part is that Harbor’s smoke can be destroyed using bullets. Unlike any other Controllers (Omen, Brimstone, Clove, and Astra), Harbor is unable to smoke to a site from another site.

Viper is on the same page as well, but Viper’s smoke orbs have a superior range than that of Harbor’s. His walls (High Tide and CASCADE) are both slow and weak in terms of resisting enemies. The front wall not only blocks the line of sight but also doesn’t block bullets from the enemies in front of that wall.

Harbor’s overhaul changes are going to bring a great balance to the Valorant roster. We hope the developers drop the patch soon and make this Indian agent on par with other agents.
