Dynasty Warriors: Origins Gets January Release Date

The next entry in Koei Tecmo’s beloved hack-and-slash series, Dynasty Warriors, is almost here. Announced as a part of Sony’s September State of Play, Dynasty Warriors: Origins is scheduled to release on on January 17, 2025.

In addition to its release date, Sony also offered fans plenty of new game footage and more context regarding its story. Set before the Yellow Turban Rebellion, the game centers around the rise of Zhang Jiao and explores the events leading up to the infamous event. Though the game retains its signature musou-style combat, the footage shown in the new trailer hints at a bit more tactical depth.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins is the tenth mainline title in the Dynasty Warriors series and follows 2018’s Dynasty Warriors 9. As its name implies, however, Origins takes place at the beginning of the Dynasty Warriors timeline. As of right now, the game is confirmed to be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Other State of Play announcements include a Soul Reaver 1+2 remaster collection, a Ghost of Tsushima follow-up called Ghost of Yotei, some stylish new DualSense colors, and updates to existing hit games, such as Astro Bot’s upcoming free DLC.
