Kitten found in wall finds forever home with her hero

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A kitten who was found in distress about a month ago has now found her new home, with none other than one of her heroes.

On Thursday, Aug. 22, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) was responding to an area on North Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway after they had received multiple complaints from nearby businesses of trespassing, camping, and narcotics activity.

While officers were searching an abandoned building for trespassers, CSPD said they heard what sounded like a cat in distress coming from the attic. After searching for several minutes, the officers determined the cat was trapped inside a wall and had potentially been there for several days without food or water.

Officers tore down a section of the wall and ceiling to reach the kitten.

The cat was found “severely malnourished” according to HOT officers who had to tear down a section of the wall and ceiling. The kitten was taken to the Humane Society Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR), where they said the kitten was too small for her age at only 15 ounces at about eight weeks old.

The kitten went to a foster home for a few weeks to gain weight and grow. However, the calico already had blossomed into one of the officer’s hearts, who placed a choice hold on her, in the hope of giving her a home when she was ready to be adopted.

A month later, HSPPR announced on Tuesday, Sept. 24, that the kitten—now named “Wallflower,” had gone to her forever home with one of the officers who saved her life.
