6 Major Orders We Need for the DSS to Truly Let Helldivers 2 Overtake Space Marine 2

Ever since its debut in February 2024, Helldivers 2 has managed to become Sony’s fastest-selling PlayStation title. Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, this co-op shooter has seen massive success despite the recent downward spiral due to the Steam review bombing.

One of the biggest strengths of Helldivers 2‘s live-service model has been its Major Order mechanic, whereby every week, we’re given one big goal to achieve. The latest Major Order challenges players to secure a site for the construction of the “Democracy Space Station,” and there are some possible objectives that could help it flip the rise of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2.

6 Objectives the Upcoming Democracy Space Station Desperately Needs in Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2‘s new Major Order comes hot on the heels of Arrowhead’s release of a game update packed with various buffs. It challenges gamers to secure an orbital construction site for the Democracy Space Station (DSS). Gallivare and Clasa are the viable sites, but they’ll need to be freed from Automation control first.

Currently, we don’t have a shred of an idea of what Democracy Space Station will look or function like in the game. It sounds like something out right out of Star Wars, which has led to gamers on Reddit theorizing about its possible capabilities.

If the Democracy Space Station is truly set to change the course of the war, it must bring some ground-breaking objectives. One of the first ones should be a ‘Super Titan Defense,’ where your team must activate a defense station and use mines to weaken a massive, slow-moving enemy at an extraction point.

Another one can be ‘SEFEA Rescue,’ where you must demolish enemies, rescue the pinned-down SEAF soldiers, and help them to extraction points. ‘Rolling Thunder’ could task you to escort a SEAF tank to a fortified enemy position and protect it from various attacks.

With ‘Recover Experimental Weapon’, you must extract a lost experimental weapon and use it at an extraction point, with the option to use it while battling during the mission. ‘Defend Terraforming Equipment’ can bring the challenge of protecting multiple sites under attack by switching between them until time runs out, possibly by using vehicles.

Lastly, ‘Apex Elite Hunt’ could throw in the challenge of tracking and killing a fast and high-difficulty boss with multiple health and weapon pools, using sub-objectives to gain the upper hand.

If Arrowhead integrates these objectives with the upcoming Major Order, it could help the game regain its ground and stand up against the Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2, which has been making waves in the industry as the Helldivers 2 killer.

Arrowhead’s Big Plans for Helldivers 2‘s Future

After the failure of the last couple of updates, Arrowhead looks to be finally regaining its ground. Alongside various much-needed changes, many fan-favorite Stratagems and weapons have been improved and brought to a playable state.

There’s no beating around the bush; the Escalation of Freedom update was a failure. So, the studio desperately needed to follow a new path to save the game using the community’s feedback.

Leaks suggest that Arrowhead is planning to bring new enemies into the title, such as Automation Assault Walkers. Gamers absolutely adore the threat Automation missions bring, as they’re chaotic and fun. Adding such a unit to the co-op shooter will raise the stakes higher.

With the developers’ shift in direction, Helldivers 2‘s reviews are positive again, but this is just the start. Arrowhead still has massive plans for the game’s future.
