Palm Springs police arrest six for alleged assault, robbery at parking lot off Ramon Road

(This story has been updated to add information.)

Palm Springs police officers arrested six people early Saturday who were suspected of assault and robbery in a parking lot altercation involving about a dozen people. Two more people, who are juveniles, were expected to face separate charges, police said.

At approximately 2:12 a.m. Saturday, police received calls about a fight in the parking lot of a business in the 5600 block of East Ramon Road, with multiple people reportedly injured. That’s the block that includes the Walmart Supercenter and surrounding shops, although police did not specify exactly where the altercation happened.

A witness told the police that two vehicles were involved in the incident, including a black Infiniti that police had just seen hours earlier. Around 8:15 p.m. Friday, officers stopped the Infiniti in the 1700 block of East Vista Chino, and they arrested an 18-year-old man from San Jacinto on gun-related charges, including possessing a loaded firearm not registered in his name.

At the parking lot where the subsequent altercation occurred, officers located the assault victims, including two with moderate head injuries, one of whom lost consciousness. The two with head injuries were transported to a hospital for treatment, according to a statement from the Palm Springs Police Department.

Officers spoke with other witnesses, who reported that the occupants of the black Infiniti and a second vehicle assaulted the victims and then took items from them. Police investigators subsequently identified the occupants as suspects and arrested them at the scene.

The following suspects, who were arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery and battery with a serious injury, were identified by the department:

Jabarrielijah Elliott, 22, of Hemet

Kimora Browne, 18, of San Jacinto

Jonah Wilkerson, 20, of Hemet

Teiyanie Burns, 19, of Bermuda Dunes

Amari Haynes, 20, of Hemet

Erik Carranza, 18, of Hemet

The department also said charges against two unidentified juveniles involved in the incident will be pursued out of custody.
