Rottnest ferries cancelled on Wednesday, October 2, ahead of bad weather

Ferries to Rottnest Island on Wednesday have been cancelled due to dangerous sea conditions.

The Bureau of Meteorology predicts swells to hit around four metres at midday with hail possible later in the afternoon and evening on Wednesday.

As a result, Sealink Ferries announced they had cancelled “all services” departing from Fremantle and Perth due to “dangerous” forecasted conditions.

Return ferries from Rottnest have also been cancelled.

“We apologise to all our customers impacted by this change to operations. The safety of our crew, customers, and vessels is always our priority,” Sealink said in a statement.

The operator says fares will be refunded.

Rottnest Fast Ferries also confirmed they had cancelled services on Wednesday.

There is a 95 per cent chance of showers, and seas are predicted to reach 3 to 4 metres high on Wednesday afternoon.
